Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing’s new facility in Farmers Branch, Texas was honored with a Tilt-Up Achievement Award from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA). Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
Tilt-up was chosen as the delivery method for speed of construction, cost effectiveness, design flexibility and the ability to support the overall concept of the building’s design. Tilt-wall allowed the entry, reception and customer areas the opportunity to incorporate two different glass systems, while still giving the elevations structure. The facility was planned in a manner such that customers and users enter the facility in a refined public area, which includes a large lobby and customer conference room, then proceed to a custom-tailored office space and finally enter the warehouse/shop area at the rear of the building.
By using tilt-wall construction in the office area, we were able to achieve column spacing that worked with the Owner’s program requirements and departmental adjacencies, providing a more open feel throughout. The tilt-wall design in the warehouse/shop area allowed for larger volume and fewer columns. As with the office area, the absence of columns around the perimeter of the building gave it a smooth, clean appearance. At the same time, it reduced the amount of steel required, therefore lowering the construction cost.
The TCA award programs highlight the projects that illustrate tilt-up’s unique ability to get the job done easier, faster and for less money. The program honors projects that use site-cast tilt-up concrete to introduce new building types, advance industry technology and provide unique solutions to building programs.
