This year Alliance Architects participated in the Canstruction event, held at the State Fair of Texas. Over a course of two months, Alliance employees, in partnership with Pacheco Koch and Adolfson & Peterson, raised money for the purchase of over 4,300 cans to construct a nine-foot model of the state of Texas.
The team as a whole was broken down into several departments ranging from a sponsorship and donations team to a design and build team. Each area worked feverishly for months collecting materials needed, as well as testing and constructing the full scale model multiple times.
On build day, a dozen team members met at Fair Park, with eight hours to construct. With no A/C and a few structural mishaps, the team was able to finish up with three hours to spare!
Alliance Architects would like to thank Kroger and Pronto delivery for their help with the acquisition and delivery of the cans as well as Pacheco Koch and Adolfson & Peterson for their involvement as a whole. The structure can be seen at the Science Building at Fair Park now through October 23.
