Mattress firm Tempur Sealy is working on new warehouse location.
Another big warehouse deal is landing at DFW International Airport.
During the last few years, developers have made the area around DFW Airport one of the busiest industrial building markets in North Texas.
Major leases have been signed by Amazon, candymaker Mars and others in new buildings going up at both ends of the airport.
Now one of the country’s biggest mattress firms — Tempur Sealy International Inc. — is taking another big block of distribution space near the south end of DFW Airport, according to filings with the state of Texas.
The 585,000-square-foot distribution hub is planned for the Passport Park Building 2 at 2650 Rental Car Drive in Irving.
The more than 2 million-square-foot Passport Park industrial development is a project of Dallas-based Trammell Crow Co. Crow Co. made a more than 130-acre ground lease with DFW Airport for the new Passport Park development.
The real estate firm said it’s the company’s 34th building development at the airport.
The Passport Park 2 building is scheduled for completion in the first quarter. It was part of the almost 30 million square feet of industrial space under construction in the Dallas-Fort Worth area at the end of 2019.
The D-FW area is forecast to be the country’s top market for both warehouse building and leasing during the next two years, according to a new report from Cushman & Wakefield Inc.
The growth of the local warehousing market is being driven by both e-commerce and consumer products shippers.
