Zachary Martinez has been interning with us in our production department since June 2020. We said our goodbyes and best wishes for his future – both professionally and personally. He attends Texas A&M University in College Station where he will receive his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design. He plans to graduate in the spring of 2023.
Zachary shares, “I’ve enjoyed going to job sites of some of our ongoing projects. I’ve found it fascinating to see drawings transform into a physical building.”
We have certainly enjoyed having him on the team and appreciated how helpful and efficient he is. We continue to learn from all our interns!
Some fun facts about Zachary – his most used emoji is the thumbs up, because “it is a quick and easy way to acknowledge a message”. His go-to karaoke song is Amarillo by Morning by George Strait, and favorite hobby is drawing/painting/art in general, as well as long-distance running.
Zachary, describe your team dynamic while working at Alliance?
“I always felt like everyone coordinated effectively with each other and that people were always available to answer any of my questions. .”
Based on your experience, what do you think it takes to be successful in our organization?
“I believe that, given the networking and interaction which occurs with other businesses, one should have capable social skills. I also believe that an employee should have as much dedication to the inevitably tedious tasks, as they do to the enjoyable, creative ones that they will encounter.”
What was your favorite experience at Alliance Architects?
“I’ve enjoyed going to job sites to check on ongoing projects. I’ve found it fascinating to see drawings be realized into a physical building.”
What does our tagline “Creativity Done Right” mean to you?
“As a student currently studying architecture, I’m constantly reminded of the importance of creativity to the field. However, I also know that creativity cannot accomplish much on its own. I’ve seen really interesting ideas in studio fail because a student was unable to execute it in a meaningful way. I understand ‘Creativity Done Right’ to acknowledge this notion and indicate that Alliance is not only creative, but also capable at effectively executing said creativity.”
Any advice you would give to future potential architect interns?
“Pay close attention to any advice that your coworkers may give you, whether it be work-related or not. They were once in the same position you are in now, and one day you may be in their same position. Any insight or lessons you get will give you an advantage that they never had.”
